Together with Patrick Marc Sommer, I wrote and designed a comprehensive reference book on the fundamentals of typography with a focus on practical applications.
What is typography? If you don’t deal with it professionally, you probably don’t come across this term very often. You might know that it has something to do with letters or typefaces. Yet we’re surrounded by typography everywhere: texts we read every day on news sites or in books, social media posts, and advertising slogans. Each of these texts is designed—though with varying degrees of skill and effectiveness.
This book shows—through a relaxed, clear structure of the topics and with practical exercises in Adobe InDesign—how to make typography work smartly for you: so that it supports the content, creates moods, and makes texts a pleasure to read. Because typography is fun.

"What sets this book apart is the transition from theory to practice: The authors not only explain the fundamentals of typography in a clear and comprehensive way, but also demonstrate specifically how to apply them in InDesign."

“While *The ABCs of Typography* also provides basic knowledge, its focus on practical application in InDesign takes a different—and very useful—approach. Its relaxed structure encourages readers to keep turning the pages and delve deeper.”

“Bottom line: The book covers a very broad range of topics. In fact, each chapter could be a book in its own right—think of books like *Detail Typography* and *Reading Typography*. So with *The ABCs of Typography*, readers really get a lot of value for their money.”
